The Municipal Borough of Twickenham became part of the London Borough of Richmond in 1965 joining with towns on the Richmond side of the River Thames.
Today, the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames has 54 councillors from each side of the river, the Twickenham side and the Richmond side.
The borough has many individual towns, a university, buildings of historical and architectural merit, beautiful views along the Thames and plenty of open space.
